Check who bills the plan. SiriusXM’s help lists the Online Account Center and chat for direct billing; third-party plans cancel with their seller. Save the effective date for each subscription. Paid audio refund windows depend on billing frequency, and vehicle-included trials differ from self-activated offers.
Before you cancel SiriusXM
- Find your real biller: check the bank statement — the charge descriptor names who actually bills you (SiriusXM, Apple, Google, Roku, or T-Mobile)
- Renewal timing: act at least twenty-four hours before the upcoming renewal for direct plans and follow the actual seller’s deadline for store billing.
- Direct-billed? The Online Account Center’s Subscriptions tab is the no-phone path; the chat icon is the backup
- Save everything: the cancel screen and the chat transcript are your proof if a charge lands after the end date
Check the biller first, then the subscription record. The current help lists an account-center route and chat for direct billing. A failed portal control can be followed up in chat; save the result rather than assuming a login or opened conversation ended the plan.
Here’s every path, mapped: the direct-billed exit that needs no phone, the Apple/Google/Roku/T-Mobile exits for store-billed subscriptions, the trial trap that catches new-car owners, and what to type when the chat agent starts offering discounts.
First: who actually bills you?
SiriusXM’s own help center splits cancellation by billing provider, and so does this guide. Pull up the credit card or bank statement where the charge lands and read the descriptor:
| Your statement shows | Who bills you | Where you cancel |
|---|---|---|
| SIRIUS XM / SiriusXM Radio | SiriusXM direct | Online Account Center or site chat — no phone |
| Apple / App Store | Apple | iPhone Settings → Subscriptions |
| Google Play | Play Store → Payments & subscriptions | |
| Roku | Roku | my.roku.com (not the app) |
| On your T-Mobile bill | T-Mobile | T-Mobile app or call 611 |
How to cancel SiriusXM without calling
For subscriptions billed by SiriusXM itself — started on siriusxm.com, through an agent, or by mail — the company’s help center lists three official options, and two of them never ring a phone:
Sign in to the Online Account Center at care.siriusxm.com with the username tied to your radio or streaming plan. Don’t know it? The sign-in page has a username-recovery flow tied to your radio ID or email.
Open the Subscriptions tab and find the plan line. If a cancel option is offered for your plan, take it to the confirmation screen and save it.
No cancel option on your plan? Click the chat icon in the lower-right corner of the page and type it instead: “I’d like to cancel my subscription, effective at the end of my current term. Please confirm in writing.” An agent handles it — a conversation, not a phone call.
Get the end date in writing. Ask in the same chat message for written confirmation with the effective date and the last billing date; most plans run to the end of the paid term, so the date matters more than the moment.
Save the transcript. Screenshot the confirmation screen and keep the chat log or email. If a charge posts after the end date, that pair is the dispute.
The app-store paths: Apple, Google, Roku
If your subscription started inside the SiriusXM app — or through a device — SiriusXM itself can’t cancel it. The biller can:
- Apple (iPhone/iPad): Settings → your name → Subscriptions → SiriusXM → Cancel Subscription. Two rules from SiriusXM’s own policy page: cancel more than 24 hours before the renewal date or the next cycle may still fire, and service stops at the end of the current cycle. The same flow is covered step-by-step in our iPhone app-subscription guide.
- Google Play (Android): Play Store → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → SiriusXM → cancel. Same 24-hours-before-renewal rule; see the Google Play subscription guide for the full walk-through.
- Roku: this one surprises people — you cannot cancel inside the SiriusXM app at all. Go to my.roku.com in a browser, sign in, find the SiriusXM channel under active subscriptions, choose cancel subscription and a cancellation reason. Roku handles the refund terms itself.
T-Mobile-billed SiriusXM
Some T-Mobile plans bundled or add-on SiriusXM, and those bill through T-Mobile — so they cancel through T-Mobile. In the T-Mobile app or on the site, go to Account → Manage add-ons, select the line with the SiriusXM feature, deselect it, and confirm. Dialing 611 from the handset works too. Our T-Mobile cancellation guide covers the account-side mechanics if you’re unwinding more than just the radio.
The trial trap: new-car and streaming trials
A trial included with a vehicle purchase or lease does not automatically renew under SiriusXM’s customer agreement. A separately accepted paid plan or self-activated introductory offer can renew according to its terms. Identify which you have before attributing a charge to the dealer trial.
Compare the offer confirmation, activation date, radio ID and payment record. If a paid subscription exists, stop its renewal through its biller; a radio continuing to play does not itself prove a paid renewal. Ask support to identify any unfamiliar account or product.
What you’ll pay — and what comes back
Direct-billed audio plans generally end at the paid term’s end without a partial-period refund. The published refund FAQ includes two exceptions: monthly plans can receive a requested prorated refund within seven days of initial purchase; non-monthly plans can receive one within thirty days of initial purchase or each renewal. The monthly exception does not repeat at renewal.
Qualifying cancellation within these windows ends the subscription immediately. Ask for the actual amount and access end; third-party and non-audio plans have different policies. Keep the decision and expected payment posting date.
When the chat turns into a retention script
Commonly reported, and consistent with how SiriusXM’s save-desk works: the agent offers a discounted rate, then a pause, then a lower tier — sometimes a genuinely good deal. If you’re canceling to save money, hear the first offer out; if you’re canceling because you don’t use it, one sentence holds: “I understand — please proceed with the cancellation as I requested.” Repetition, politely, until the confirmation appears. The FTC’s fight over hard-to-cancel subscriptions is ongoing context — its click-to-cancel rule was struck down in 2025, but enforcement under ROSRA-era laws never stopped, including a record Amazon settlement in 2025 — see our click-to-cancel status guide.
Special cases and exceptions
- Sold or traded the car: the satellite subscription doesn’t transfer with the vehicle — it stays on your account. Cancel it directly, and let the new owner decide whether to sign up fresh.
- Canceling the car but keeping listening: a streaming-only plan may cost less than the radio package. Ask about the plan change in the same chat before you cancel outright — downgrading and canceling are different buttons, and the agent can quote both.
- Death of the subscriber: the estate’s executor cancels with proof of authority; the executor’s cancellation checklist covers the document kit and the order to work in.
- Business or fleet radios: commercial accounts sit on a different servicing path than the consumer account center — if the descriptor on your statement is a business entity, start with SiriusXM’s business support rather than the consumer chat.
- Radio ID confusion: used-car buyers sometimes find an active subscription they never started — the dealer trial. Confirm the account holder via the Online Account Center’s recovery flow before assuming it’s yours to keep.
Cancel the correct radio and every unwanted plan
List each account number, radio ID and plan line before starting. Say whether you want one radio ended, all paid subscriptions stopped, or a transfer to another vehicle. Keep a confirmation for each requested change; ending one line can leave another active.
A new direct subscription does not prove that an older store-billed plan ended. Match both receipts and cancel the unwanted one with its own seller. Do not share account credentials in a public forum while trying to identify the owner.
Still charged? Four records to compare
- A second radio, streaming plan or separately billed podcast remains active.
- You canceled with SiriusXM while an external seller owns the payment.
- A request or chat ended without a confirmed status change.
- The payment belongs to the prior term or a renewal processed before the deadline.
Use the plan receipt, original request time, confirmed end date and transaction to ask support for an explanation. Request a written decision on the payment and refund. Contact the payment provider promptly about an unresolved dispute and its deadline; later posting alone does not establish failed cancellation.
What to record after the conversation
Before leaving chat, copy the transcript and case reference and check that the requested account lines are named. Record the effective date, refund decision and any remaining obligation. If you accepted a replacement offer, retain its term and renewal price as a new billing decision.
For a sold vehicle, identify whether you are canceling a paid plan or handling a vehicle-included trial. For an estate or business account, ask the appropriate team about the required evidence and servicing process. Use the estate checklist to track other billers independently.
Cancellation and billing follow-up template
Complete the cancellation in the correct account first. Copy this wording into the official support channel for missing confirmation or a disputed charge; sending a letter alone does not replace the account flow. Keep the case reference, and omit passwords, security codes and full payment-card details.
Cancel SiriusXM without calling: frequently asked questions
Can I cancel without calling?
The official help lists the account-center subscriptions route and chat for direct billing. Store or partner purchases use that biller. Save the completed result.
Does a vehicle-included trial automatically renew?
SiriusXM’s agreement says vehicle-included trials do not automatically renew. A separately accepted paid or self-activated offer is a different record.
Can a monthly paid plan receive a refund?
The direct-audio refund FAQ provides a requested prorated refund within seven days of initial purchase, not subsequent monthly renewals.
What about an annual or quarterly audio plan?
The published direct-audio policy allows a requested prorated refund within thirty days of initial purchase or each non-monthly renewal. Qualifying cancellation ends access immediately.
Does selling my car cancel every paid plan?
No. Identify the paid subscription and request its cancellation or eligible transfer. Confirm any separate streaming or radio lines.
Does uninstalling the app stop billing?
No. Complete the billing account’s cancellation process and retain its end-date confirmation.
What if the portal cancellation fails?
Keep a record of the attempt and use official chat or support. Ask which lines are canceled and save the case reference and transcript.
Why can listening continue after cancellation?
Access may run to the confirmed paid-term end, or a different entitlement may exist. Compare plan status and receipts rather than treating radio playback as billing proof.
