For a UK flexible monthly PureGym membership, cancel the direct debit in the Members’ Area (app or website) using Online Cancellations, up to 4 working days before your payment date. You can also cancel the direct debit with your bank (allow 4 working days). New members have a 14-day cooling-off right — email member.services@puregym.com. Fixed-term plans need member services; terms vary. This guide is for PureGym UK — US clubs (including former Blink locations) use PureGym US / Blink paths.
Cancel puregym membership: Before you start
- Confirm UK vs US: puregym.com UK terms differ from PureGym US after the Blink conversion
- Read your membership type: flexible monthly, fixed term, and student offers have different exit rules
- Notice timing: monthly flex needs Online Cancellation (or bank cancel) with enough working days before the draft
- Proof beats memory: screenshot the Online Cancellations confirmation and note the end date
Cancel a flexible monthly membership (UK)
Identify the plan before using the four-day rule
| Plan | Action to check | Record to save |
|---|---|---|
| UK flexible monthly | Online Cancellations or the permitted bank direct-debit route, allowing four working days | Completion time, next payment and confirmed access end |
| UK Fixed Term | Ask member services about early exit and the unused-term calculation | Paid term, request date and refund decision |
| Commit & Save or promotion | Use the cancellation terms provided at purchase | Commitment end, notice and any early-exit calculation |
| PureGym US / former Blink | Use the US agreement and location route | State terms and US confirmation |
Sign in to the PureGym Members’ Area in the app or at puregym.com.
Open Online Cancellations and cancel the direct debit membership (PureGym’s membership terms describe this path).
Submit at least 4 working days before your next payment date — late notice can mean one more monthly charge.
Alternatively, cancel the direct debit with your bank and allow 4 working days for the bank to process it (PureGym documents both routes).
Keep gym access until the paid period ends unless PureGym confirms an earlier end date on screen.
14-day cooling-off (new memberships)
UK terms give a 14-day cooling-off period after the contract starts. If you started immediately, a refund may be reduced for gym usage during those days. Contact member.services@puregym.com to cancel within cooling-off — refunds are typically returned to the original payment method within 14 days. Always check the current Membership Terms & Conditions for your plan.
Fixed-term and other plan types
Read the exact plan name and purchase terms. The published six-, nine- or twelve-month Fixed Term policy differs from flexible monthly membership and from Commit & Save. Fixed Term does not automatically roll into monthly membership; an early exit goes through member services and has a specified unused-time refund formula.
Commit & Save cancellation terms are supplied at purchase and can include an early-termination charge. Do not use flexible monthly bank cancellation as proof that a commitment balance has ended.
Count working days and keep a buffer
The flexible monthly rule uses working days. Do not count a weekend as two processing days or assume a bank holiday is available for processing. Check the payment date in your account and ask the bank about its deadline if using that route.
Example without a bank holiday: before a Friday payment, the preceding Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are four working days. Act earlier to allow for a cutoff time, an error or a holiday. This example is planning guidance, not a promise that a last-minute request will stop a payment already processing.
Cooling-off and fixed-term refunds are different
For a cooling-off request, identify the joining date and whether you started using the gym. Ask member services to confirm the applicable refund calculation and expected posting date. For a Fixed Term early exit, the published membership policy describes fifty percent of the unused pro-rated portion.
Worked arithmetic only: if the eligible unused portion were £120, fifty percent would be £60. Ask PureGym to calculate the eligible portion from your actual dates; this is not an estimate of your refund and is not the formula for a different plan.
Still charged? Identify the reason before retrying
- The cancellation reached the bank or gym too close to processing.
- The membership was a commitment rather than flexible monthly.
- A freeze restarted, or the account showed a hold instead of termination.
- The charge belongs to another membership or separately arranged service.
Keep the cancellation record, payment date and statement entry. Ask member services to explain the plan, period and receipt timing. For a bank-route request, also retain the bank’s completion record. Ask your bank promptly about a disputed payment and its deadline.
Access, freezes and special requests
The flexible monthly terms end the membership before the next payment date when cancellation meets their conditions. Save the exact end date shown for your account, and cancel class bookings separately where needed. Do not treat a working PIN or continued app login as proof of future billing.
If considering a freeze, confirm eligibility, cost, access restriction and automatic restart. For medical, relocation or bereavement circumstances, contact member services with the plan details and ask what provision and evidence apply. An authorized estate representative should request a written decision on the end date and later charges.
Cancellation request and follow-up template
Flexible monthly members can use the official Online Cancellations or permitted bank route. Use this wording for member-services requests, fixed-term review or follow-up; an email is not a substitute for the process required by another plan.
Frequently asked questions
Can I cancel a UK flexible membership through the bank?
Yes. PureGym’s flexible monthly terms permit that route with four working days for processing, as well as Online Cancellations. This permission does not apply automatically to other plans or countries.
Does four days include weekends?
The policy uses working days. Check bank holidays, processing cutoffs and your actual payment date, and submit earlier where possible.
What happens if I cancel close to payment?
A payment may already be processing. Retain the completion record and ask which period it covers, the end date and whether a refund is due under your plan.
Do Fixed Term memberships renew monthly?
The published six-, nine- or twelve-month Fixed Term policy says they end automatically rather than rolling into monthly membership. Check that your purchase is actually that plan.
Is a fixed-term refund the same as cooling-off?
No. Each has its own conditions and calculation. Give member services the plan, joining or paid-term dates and request a written decision.
What about Commit & Save?
Use the terms supplied at purchase, including its commitment and possible early-termination charge. Do not assume the flexible monthly bank route settles the remaining balance.
Does a freeze count as cancellation?
No. Confirm the freeze charge, duration and restart; if you want termination, make that explicit and complete the applicable cancellation process.
Is this the route for PureGym US?
No. US and converted Blink clubs use their own agreements and location/state processes. Use the linked US guide and official US channels.
