LA Fitness’s current membership page lists cancellation through your online account, in person at a club, or by mailed written notice. It lists the cancellation mailing address as P.O. Box 54170, Irvine, CA 92619, and recommends registered or certified mail for records. Check your agreement for any additional route, initial-term obligation and separate training contract.
Before you cancel
- Find your membership barcode, account email, next billing date and agreement.
- List membership dues, annual fees, personal training and other recurring services separately.
- Use the current cancellation instructions, rather than an old article or a payment mailing address.
- Keep the final online confirmation, dated in-person receipt or postal record.
- Ask for your final payment, last access date and treatment of prepaid dues in writing.
Downloading a cancellation form and finishing a cancellation are different actions. So are canceling club access and ending a personal-training agreement. The useful outcome is a confirmed end date for each recurring service, with a record you can match against the next statement.
Choose your cancellation route
| Route | What to do | Proof to save |
|---|---|---|
| Online account | Sign in and complete the available cancellation flow | Final confirmation and effective date |
| In person | Ask the front desk to process the request or identify the responsible employee | Dated form copy or receipt |
| Send written notice to the current cancellation address | Signed notice, postmark and delivery record | |
| Another agreement-specific route | Check whether your enrollment state’s terms allow email or another method | Submission and written acknowledgment |
Cancel through My LA Fitness
- Open My LA Fitness from the official website and sign in. Use its recovery tools if needed; do not share your password with a cancellation service.
- Identify the correct membership and open the cancellation or membership-management option offered for it. Labels and eligibility can differ.
- Review the proposed end date and remaining charges. Continue through the final confirmation rather than stopping at a freeze offer or form download.
- Save the confirmation screen and email. Ask member services about any separate training or add-on contract that remains active.
If the control is absent or fails, save the error and switch promptly to another accepted route. A screenshot of a failed attempt explains the problem but does not confirm that the membership ended.
Cancel in person
Go during staffed hours with your membership details. Ask the front desk who can process the cancellation and request a dated receipt. If that employee is unavailable, ask for a specific appointment and use the online or mail route if waiting would put another billing cycle at risk.
Read the form before signing. Confirm whether it covers only club membership or also the services you listed. Keep a photograph or copy before handing it over, then ask for the effective end date and final billing schedule.
Cancel by written notice
Check the current membership questions page and your agreement before posting. The cancellation address above is different from the payment address on the same page. The current page recommends registered or certified mail; it does not describe that recommendation as the only permitted mail service.
Its published mailing rule refers to a postmark at least five business days before the next billing date. If mailed later, another payment may occur; the page says that additional billing will be refunded. Keep both the postmark and delivery evidence and request confirmation rather than assuming a refund will appear without follow-up.
Do not count weekends as business days. Check holidays and allow extra time. The date you write the letter is not proof of the postal date. If the billing deadline is close, check whether the account’s online route can complete the request sooner.
Written cancellation notice template
Use this as your notice, subject to the instructions for your agreement. Identify separate contracts individually; asking about them here does not establish that they have been canceled.
Final dues, prepaid time and training contracts
Ask the club to separate the effective cancellation date, final recurring payment and last day of access. These need not be the same date. The published policy says prepaid last-month dues can extend access after the final paid period; confirm the actual date on your account.
For an initial-term membership or training agreement, ask when the commitment ends and what an earlier exit would cost. Do not assume a month-to-month club membership means the training package is also month-to-month. Request the provision and calculation before relying on a verbal fee estimate.
Check annual fees and add-on lines separately. If a payment posts after notice, compare it with the agreed final-charge schedule rather than immediately assuming fraud. Ask for any refund amount, expected credit date and reference number in writing.
Still charged? Check four common gaps
- Incomplete online flow: a saved form or retention screen is not the final receipt.
- Late mailed notice: compare the postmark with the published cutoff and ask about the additional-billing refund.
- Separate contract: a training or add-on payment may belong to a service outside the club cancellation.
- Remaining obligation: an initial term, prepaid period or pending charge may explain the final schedule.
Send member services a timeline with your notice, receipt and statement entry. Ask what was processed, when it took effect and why the charge remains. If unresolved, ask your bank about a dispute and consider an appropriate consumer complaint. The refund guide explains why ending renewal and refunding a past charge are different requests.
Moves, health issues, estates and freezes
For a move, medical issue or military orders, check your agreement’s provisions and supporting-document requirements. Request a written decision about any early-exit fee. Do not assume a reason automatically waives all remaining obligations.
For a deceased member, the authorized representative should ask what evidence is needed, which contracts remain and how later charges will be reviewed. Use the executor’s cancellation checklist; do not assume billing stopped automatically on the date of death.
For a minor, family account or paid-in-full plan, identify the responsible signer and each membership affected. Ask whether renewal exists and how unused prepaid time is treated. If considering a freeze, confirm its cost, access restrictions and restart process before accepting it.
LA Fitness cancellation questions
Can I cancel LA Fitness online?
The current official membership page lists your online account as a route. Complete its final cancellation screen and retain the confirmation. If unavailable for your account, use another route permitted by your agreement.
Where should I mail the cancellation?
The current official cancellation address is P.O. Box 54170, Irvine, CA 92619. Recheck the page and agreement before posting; do not confuse it with the payment address or assume your home club is the mail destination.
Is certified mail mandatory?
The current page recommends registered or certified mail for records. Follow any specific instructions applicable to your agreement and retain proof of the notice and postal dates.
Does canceling membership end personal training?
Do not assume so. Ask for a separate decision on the training agreement, its term and remaining charges, with written confirmation for each service.
What if another monthly payment appears?
Compare the final schedule and postal timing. For notice mailed inside the published cutoff, the official page describes a possible extra payment and refund. Ask for review with your records and track the promised credit.
Will a complaint guarantee a refund?
No. A complaint can document an unresolved issue, but it does not itself reverse a charge or cancel your contract. Pursue the cancellation and any refund request with their own evidence.
